AngelShack Modern Slavery & Human Rights Statement
Our Commitment
AngelShack is committed to conducting business responsibly, ethically and with respect for human rights.
We have zero tolerance for modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour or any form of exploitation within our own operations or, to the extent reasonably possible, within our supply chain.
As a proudly South African manufacturer, we believe responsible local manufacturing is about more than the products we make. It is about the people who make them, the communities in which we operate and the suppliers with whom we choose to do business.
What We Mean by Modern Slavery
Modern slavery may include forced or compulsory labour, human trafficking, servitude, debt bondage, child labour and other situations in which a person’s freedom is restricted for the purpose of exploitation.
AngelShack does not knowingly engage with or support any organisation involved in these practices.
Our People
We are committed to providing a working environment in which employees are treated fairly, with dignity and respect.
Our employment practices are intended to ensure that:
- employment is freely chosen;
- employees are appropriately remunerated in accordance with applicable South African employment legislation;
- working hours and conditions comply with applicable laws;
- discrimination, harassment, abuse and exploitation are not tolerated;
- child labour and forced labour are prohibited; and
- employees are free to raise workplace concerns without fear of retaliation.
Our Supply Chain
AngelShack works with a network of suppliers and service providers supporting our South African manufacturing operations.
We expect our suppliers and business partners to share our commitment to ethical business practices and to comply with applicable labour, employment and human-rights legislation.
Where appropriate, we may request information from suppliers regarding their employment practices, sourcing, manufacturing processes and compliance with applicable legislation.
Where we identify a potential risk or concern, we will seek further information and, where appropriate, require corrective action.
AngelShack reserves the right to reconsider its relationship with a supplier where serious or persistent violations are identified and are not appropriately addressed.
Responsible Procurement
We recognise that responsible procurement plays an important role in reducing the risk of exploitation within supply chains.
Where commercially and operationally appropriate, AngelShack seeks to support responsible suppliers, South African manufacturing, local employment and businesses that contribute positively to the communities in which they operate.
Our procurement decisions consider not only price and quality, but also responsible and ethical business practices.
Reporting Concerns
Employees, suppliers and other stakeholders are encouraged to report any genuine concern regarding suspected modern slavery, forced labour, human trafficking or unethical labour practices associated with AngelShack or its supply chain.
Responsibility and Review
Responsibility for implementing this policy rests with AngelShack management, with support from employees involved in procurement, human resources, operations and supplier management.
We will review this policy periodically and update our practices as our business, supply chain and relevant legal requirements evolve.
